Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced and driven Engineering Manager to lead our engineering function and play a key role within our Senior Management Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence product innovation, drive continuous improvement, and help shape the future of Househam products and processes.

The Role

 As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the engineering team, managing workloads, and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects and product improvements.

You will work closely with senior leadership, sales, purchasing, and customers to ensure our products remain competitive, innovative, and aligned with market needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day workload of the engineering team
  • Overseeing engineering processes including ECR/ECN systems, BOMs, and project planning
  • Creating and maintaining timelines for strategic projects
  • Supporting Sales and Purchasing with accurate costing and quotations
  • Driving continuous improvement and product innovation
  • Ensuring timely resolution of engineering and product-related issues
  • Reporting on engineering performance and project progress
  • Managing outsourced engineering activities and external specialists
  • Ensuring compliance with standards, legislation, and technical documentation
  • Supporting long-term initiatives such as quality systems and ISO standards

Skills & Experience

 Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a design and development environment
  • Experience managing engineering teams and workloads
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and product development
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Strong project management and organisational skills

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Experience with DFMA
  • Familiarity with engineering change systems and project tools

Working Environment

This role is primarily office-based, with collaboration across departments and occasional engagement with customers and external partners.
